To my ancestors in faraway Georgia USA, who chose death rather than submit to slavery. May you find your wings.

Igbo’s Landing- Dunbar Creek, Georgia (c. 1803)

To the victims of targeted horrifying violence and bloody ethnic cleansing. First in Kano, then in Zaria. Then all over Northern Nigeria. May your souls find repose.

To those who tried to flee but were massacred on the ‘Red’ Bridge and thrown into the Benue River. May you find rest.

Bloody pogroms in the North killed over 200,000 Southerners mostly Igbos between 1966 & 1967

To our heroes who died defending the young nation when the entire world besieged us. May your sacrifice never be forgotten.

To the young, who starved to death and to those who suffered ‘Ọrịa Wilson’ because of Awolowo’s food blockade. May you dine with the gods.

Biafran Children suffering from Kwashiorkor- a form of acute malnutrition due to protein deficiency.

To the over 3 million Biafrans brutally killed in the 3-year genocide. Ozoemena!

To my kinsmen, extrajudicially executed when the Python danced. May you find peace.

To us, living, breathing, worthy successors of the cause. May that which is promised not elude us.
